MATTOON — Kingspan Insulated Panels North America has announced plans to open a new facility on DeWitt Avenue East in Mattoon that will manufacture fire protection panels.
The Deland, Florida-based company reported in a press release that its Mattoon facility is expected to open in early 2025, bringing approximately 50 new jobs to the area.
Coles TogetherPresidentAngela Griffinsaid Kingspan is renovating and remodeling theformer NCI facilityat 1509 DeWitt Ave. East, on the northeast side of town, for use as its new Mattoon location. She said they have hired a local contractor to do the work for them and plan to keep as much work local as possible.

The company said in the new release that its Kingspan K-Roc insulated metal panel series provides superior fire protection due to its mineral fiber insulation core. One of these products that will be manufactured at the Mattoon facility is the new K-Roc HF Series.
The company reported that the K-Roc series is currently only manufactured in its Langley facility in British Columbia, Canada. With the new Mattoon site, Kingspan reported that it will have two strategic locations to take advantage of business growth across North America.
“As a result of continued growth and optimism for the future, the addition of this new facility complements our existing footprint in North America, giving us better access to our customer base,” saidKingspan Insulated Panels North AmericaPresidentAlswinn Kieboom in the release. “We are looking forward to launching this new site and having a presence in the Midwest.”
Kingspan reported that the Mattoon facility will include sustainability upgrades as part of the company's 10-year Planet Passionate program, which aims to have a positive impact on climate change, circularity, and the protection of the natural world.

The Mattoon facility will feature solar roof panels, a rainwater harvesting tank, energy-efficient LED lighting, electric vehicle charging stations and a recycling system to help reduce landfill waste.
Griffin saidColes Together, which is the economic development organization for Coles County, is pleased to work with Kingspan in the selection and development of the Mattoon site. She said the company has strategically positioned itself in a growing sector, strengthening its position in the market and adding value and resiliency at its new location.
"Kingspan's record of corporate commitment to the communities in which it operates will have a positive impact on Coles County for generations, particularly as it grows beyond 50 initial employees," Griffin said. "Additionally, we are excited to support the company as it works to meet its global sustainability initiative by making cutting edge and low-impact investments at its Mattoon facility."
