Tips & Tricks

Be sure to prepare in advance. This recipe takes 18-24 hours to freeze. I like to plan ahead and make it before the weekend. This is when I always want an extra sweet treat.

Tools to make this easy recipe

  • Ninja Blender– I love my ninja blender. Not only can you use it for the obvious, like smoothies and shakes, but it also works perfectly for making the ice cream base!
  • Ninja Creami ice cream maker– I am in love with this Ninja Creami.
  • Ninja Creami Pints - I opted for these pints because they were about half the price, but be weary if you need them quickly; it took about three weeks to get here. They did have some prime options for other pint containers, but I was being thrifty.

Substitutions

If you don't have plain Greek yogurt, you can always substitute it for vanilla Greek yogurt or other Greek yogurt flavors. Just remember this will change the nutrition of your frozen yogurt.

How to store

Store your Blueberry Frozen Yogurt in the freezer with the lid on. Mine never lasts longer than a few days, but it should last 3 to 6 months in the freezer. When you’re ready to eat your frozen yogurt, you’ll need to select the lite ice cream function again to make it nice, creamy, and ready to eat.

FAQs

Do I need to cook the blueberries before adding them to the Ninja Creami?

No, you don't need to cook the blueberries beforehand. You can blend them directly with the other ingredients.

Can I use frozen blueberries instead of fresh ones?

Yes, you can use frozen blueberries instead of fresh ones. Frozen blueberries work well in this recipe and provide a convenient option, especially if fresh blueberries are not in season.

Can I use dairy-free yogurt alternatives to make blueberry yogurt?

Absolutely! If you prefer a dairy-free option, you can use plant-based yogurts made from almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk. The Ninja Creami can still process these alternatives and create a delicious blueberry frozen yogurt.

FAQs

Can I just put frozen fruit in my Ninja creami? ›

Can I use frozen fruit in the Ninja Creami? Yes, you can. But, frozen fruit either needs to be thawed out before using, blended with the other ingredients, or have a liquid, like dairy added to the pint to fill in all of the gaps.

Can I make frozen yogurt in my Ninja creami? ›

Pour yogurt into an empty CREAMi® Deluxe Pint up to the MAX FILL line. Place storage lid on Deluxe Pint and freeze for 24 hours.

Do you really need to freeze Ninja creami for 24 hours? ›

Freezing is crucial: It's paramount that the base is completely frozen into a solid block for the Ninja Creami to work effectively. Texture is key: The 24-hour freeze time results in smaller ice crystals and enhances the dessert's creaminess. For the most creamy ice cream and smoothest sorbet, this matters!

Is the Ninja Creami discontinued? ›

While the company's first model, the Creami Breeze, has been discontinued, the company still has two ice cream makers in its assortment: the Ninja Creami and the Ninja Creami Deluxe.

Why is my creami ice cream icy? ›

The presence of too much water in your ice cream mix can cause iciness.

How to make Ninja Creami ice cream thicker? ›

The mixture in your Ninja Creami may look powdery after the first spin and this is normal. We recommend adding a splash of milk and re-spinning it. You can also re-spin without milk for a thicker consistency. After the second spin, it often looks just like ice cream and is no longer powdery.

Is 5 hours enough for Ninja Creami? ›

Ninja recommends freezing Creami bases for 24 hours, but we've had success with 8 to 12 hour freezing times, too.

Why is my Ninja Creami not creamy? ›

- If your base is crumbly or powdery after processing, use the RE-SPIN program to make it smoother and creamier. Note: do NOT RE-SPIN if you will also be using the MIX-IN program, since running both after another program may over process ingredients.

What are the defects of the Ninja Creami? ›

Because the thick blades of the Creami can't fully reach the edges or bottom of the pint containers, though, the appliance leaves sections of totally unmixed, frozen base. So even if the blended parts are impressively smooth, depending on how carefully you scoop, you're likely to get some icy bits in your bowl.

What is the difference between Ninja Creami and Ninja Creami Deluxe? ›

The Ninja Creami Deluxe version expands upon the original Ninja Creami, which offers seven functions (ice cream, sorbet, lite ice cream, gelato, milkshake, smoothie bowl, and mix-in) while the Deluxe offers 11 (it adds slushy, Italian ice, frozen drink, Creamiccino, and frozen yogurt to the mix).

What is the new version of Ninja Creami? ›

The newly launched Ninja Creami Deluxe is not only bigger in capacity than the standard version of this best ice cream maker but also has new technology to make your mixes creamier and more delectable.

Can you use frozen strawberries in the Ninja CREAMi? ›

Mash in a Ninja Creami pint container with an avocado masher. Note: For frozen berries, either thaw them or you can just blend them with the pears frozen. Blend the canned pears with the juice in a blender until smooth. If using frozen strawberries add to the pear mixture with the balsamic and blend again.

Can you use frozen fruit instead of ice cubes? ›

Frozen fruit CAN be used as a substitute for ice if needed. You'll just need to use a bit more of it. Frozen banana chunks make great substitutes for ice cubes in a pinch, and also enhance the flavor of the smoothie, as you are no longer diluting it with all that frozen water.

Does Ninja CREAMi need ice? ›

The first thing we noticed is that you can immediately produce your nice cream in the blender because all you need to do to "freeze" it is add ice cubes. Of course, the CREAMi takes hours to set up before you can actually make and enjoy your nice cream.
