GeneRIFs: Gene References Into Functions

What's a GeneRIF?

  1. ABC1Ks (activity of bc1 complex kinases) are atypical protein kinases. The ABC1K gene family is evolutionarily conserved and has greatly expanded in photosynthetic organisms. ABC1K1 and ABC1K3 act oppositely to cope with photodamage under red light. [ABC1K3]

Title: Arabidopsis Atypical Kinases ABC1K1 and ABC1K3 Act Oppositely to Cope with Photodamage Under Red Light.

  2. Data indicate that the ABC1K1/ABC1K3 complex contributes to plastoglobules (PGs) function in prenyl-lipid metabolism, stress response, and thylakoid remodeling.

Title: Loss of plastoglobule kinases ABC1K1 and ABC1K3 causes conditional degreening, modified prenyl-lipids, and recruitment of the jasmonic acid pathway.

  3. ABC1K3 affects the accumulation of VTE1-dependent metabolites, alpha-tocopherol and plastochromanol, most likely via phosphorylation of VTE1.
